The Shadow of the Tree

The tree
Stands alone
In wisdom

Witness
To havocs of time
Untouched

At times
Ravaged by hands
of fate

Its shadow
Falls upon the
Unaffected earth

And yet
In the desert
Gives comfort

The tree
Stands alone
In this wisdom

  1. So beautiful, Ninot. Nothing better than a tree's shadow, unless it is the tree itself:)

  3. Dear Sherry, Pamela and Ollie,

Stafford has once again reminded me how important the awareness of climate change is.

Simpler solutions with less impact on the environment and less carbon footsteps are imperative. Akin to the shadow of the tree in a desert - zero impact on the environment and yet life saving in the hot desert! What do humans do - provide air-conditioned tents!

Truly the wisdom of nature talking loud and clear. Nature wins hands down.

  9. Beautiful poem. The tree stands wise and tall just like it's stood for years. All nature indeed seems to be a witness of time, like a shadow, and we all feel it. But you've articulated it beautifully.

  12. Ninot Ma'am,
A beautiful piece as always. It is no fun to be alone like the solitary tree, boredom sets in fast. Back in action!
